Monte Carlo Steakhouse’s History
The inside is nicely decorated with antiques giving it a vintage look. Family friendly and you can also enjoy some wine from the bar. Really friendly staff very attentive to all your needs.
We eventually got it corrected and the salmon was fine. But the server literally argued with us about what was said. Made little effort to give us a pleasant experience. Not the hugest deal, but it was Ash Wednesday and my friend didn't want red meat.
Service here lacked a lot; we waited more than 30 minutes for our food and felt we needed to get the waitress's attention for the check or more water. Came to eat dinner with my wife and kids. We chose to top sirloin 1/2 pound and a 10 Oz. Since it was late they had already ran out of prime rib and baked potato.

Yelp Reviews
My wife and I don't go out for steak often but given the quality of their dishes and service that may change. Hands down one of the best meals we've had in a long time. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat here again.

For over 30 years the Monte Carlo has served a mean steak. Other than steaks for lunch, you really have to try their Louie Special. Slices of beef with carmelized onions, green chili, smoothered with cheese and a generous portion of fries.
You looking for one of the best steakhouses in the area, let's just say this is the choice for locals. Reasonable prices for mouth watering arrest of many choices. Steaks we're done perfectly, service was great. The owner, George, is the most genuine person; we will be coming back thanks to his warmth.
For those who savor the dine-in experience, the Monte Carlo Steakhouse provides a cozy ambiance and attentive service that sets it apart. You can sit back, relax, and let Monte’s friendly staff take care of you while you indulge in the delectable offerings from Monte’s menu. I read the reviews and felt compelled to check out the steakhouse hidden in a liquor store. When I parked here I thought twice about going in based on the appearance but I am most certainly glad that I did. You will literally walk through a liquor store to a non-descript opening in the corner that will lead you to the amazing smells of meat grilling.
They don’t take reservations and we unfortunately got there after a large party So it was kind of crowded at the entrance and my friend said he wished there had been more places to sit. I don’t really understand why there were four empty booths and people waiting that were full parties but I’m sure they have a process. The waitress were nice and absolutely friendly.
It truly was one of Albuquerque’s best kept secrets. Ok...I'm really going to say what alot may not...my wrist hurts from cutting into a $28 cold piece of meat loaded with thick veins of gristle throughout. Only reason I'm going 2 stars is because the waitress was very nice. The Monte Carlo Steakhouse gained nationwide recognition when it was featured on an episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” in 2008. The episode, aptly titled “Where the Locals Go,” showcased the genuine flavors and welcoming atmosphere that define the Monte Carlo experience. It takes a few seconds for your eyes to adjust to the dimly lit beef and beer palace by the Rio Grande–and when they do adjust, you’ll wonder if you stepped out of a portal into the 1960s.
The Monte Carlo Steakhouse understands the importance of a dining atmosphere in creating a truly memorable experience. You will find yourself completely at ease as you savor each and every bite of Monte’s delectable cuisine. We went a little early (4pm) and it was a good thing, the place was packed due to a couple of large parties. Still, we didn't have to wait that long for a table.
Each bite takes you on a culinary adventure that will leave you yearning for more. Went by Monte Carlo before PBR and it was so great to be back! I have fond of memories of my single visit there 20 years ago and was delighted to see the quality and service was still there. They don't take reservations and we unfortunately got there after a large party So it was kind of crowded at the entrance and my friend said he wished there had been more places to sit.
Excellent food & fantastic service!! The salad dressing tasted house made. The steak was cooked exactly like I asked. My boyfriend's pork was a little undercooked, but the waitress had the kitchen fix it & brought him fresh fries with his pork chops cooked through.
